@treatmyocd: 5 unexpected ways OCD can look a lot like depression: 1️⃣ You stop doing things you normally enjoy: OCD can make certain hobbies, places, or activities feel too triggering. Avoiding them can temporarily reduce the anxiety, but over time, you may find yourself doing less and less of what you enjoy. 2️⃣ You feel exhausted all the time: Mental compulsions can take up hours without anyone else realizing it. Replaying conversations, reviewing memories, analyzing thoughts, or checking how you feel over and over can be incredibly draining. 3️⃣ You isolate yourself from other people: If certain people or social situations trigger your OCD, avoiding them can feel like the easiest way to get relief. Over time, that can look a lot like withdrawing or losing interest in being around others. 4️⃣ You have a hard time getting things done: OCD can turn simple tasks into long processes of checking, rereading, restarting, repeating, or trying to get something “just right.” You may look unmotivated when you’re actually stuck in a cycle of compulsions. 5️⃣ You spend more time in bed or doing nothing: When almost anything could bring up an intrusive thought or trigger the urge to do a compulsion, avoiding your day altogether can start to feel easier. From the outside, that can look a lot like depression. OCD and depression can also happen at the same time. The important distinction here is what’s driving the behavior. With OCD, these patterns are often tied to intrusive thoughts and compulsions that temporarily reduce distress or help you feel more certain. #ocd #ocdawareness #intrusivethoughts #ocdproblems #ocdrecovery
