I never knew Bosnia and Herzegovina was so diverse. I knew they had a large Muslim population but nothing more than that, I think they were also genocided under Nazi Croatia

It was a terrible genocide against the Bosniak people and not to diminish it, this is important context that almost no one ever talks about. The majority of deaths were military, roughly 60,000 people, on all sides. People hear 100,000 dead and think 100,000 Bosniak civilians were killed. It’s just not true. We need to give the whole truth, and not diminish or obscure it

Well done. I’m 34 and got my master’s in conflict studies and a huge part was studying intractable conflict. I’m not Bosnian nor Bosniak either, but I’ve always felt it’s our responsibility to talk openly about atrocities and make the stories known. One small correction for you: Srebrenica is pronounced Sreh-ben-ee-tsa

I was in Bosnia earlier this summer. Bosnians are amazing people and it really broke my heart learning about the genocide. Thank you for this video. People need to learn more about what happened

I knew about it because I was stationed in Kosovo for 9 months. Kosovo is way south of Bosnia but Mladić was still talked about there (I was there 2007-2008). The Balkans were the “world issue” that people talked about before 9/11.
