I’m in upstate NY, 6A. Mine do amazing. I have cut all the way down multiple times and it does great. It really started to do well after I cut it down the first time. Last year I didn’t cut down and they also did great. I moved a few of them this year and was impressed with how they recovered. Maybe give it a good chop and fertilizer next year? What a bummer because I love mine!

By cutting it low,you are cutting the upcoming flowers. just cut 2 nodes,thats all. and fertilize it. another thing is the soil amending, try to drop compost all around the base. also, Miracle Groe Blokm booster will cha get the game.If you get winter in your area,Winterize it late fall right before the frost🙏

That hydrangea is not in our zone. That’s why it won’t bloom. It freezes out in the winter new wood that’s why it doesn’t bloom

Mine are in a 2nd strike/warning. If no blooms next year, they will be replaced by pinnacles or arborescent hydrangeas

Exactly where I'm at with mine. One for sure I'm digging up, the other 2 I might let live. for now. I'm just over it. it's too big to not give me flowers and we've got better options in the world of hydrangea now.

I had a gardenia bush that died back during the massive ice storm in Atlanta. I cut it down and I mean down and it came back big and full of flowers. You could smell them from the street. I know it’s not hydrangeas but give it a try. At least then you’ll know whether or not it works. Maybe cut it back l now?
