going through the exact same thing except there was no plan or end in sight for the long distance. it’s so hard to miss someone and feel like they’re perfect in every other way except for location, and know that long distance just wouldn’t work so there’s nothing you can do about it. i’ve done long distance before like 10 years ago and i know it’s not for me, i was sad missing him like 98% of the time and feeling like i was missing out on my 20s too 😭

Your parents shape the relationships you have in the future. A lot of people that have OCD have very strict or overly religious parents. It reinforces a lot of negative behaviors and self worth.

Something very similar happened to me recently…..there was one thing that just wouldn’t make it work and I’ve been mourning….ive never been in a LTR either and I’m 33 so I don’t think other people in my life really understand why I’m so disappointed

I was in a long distance "situationship" in 2024, it gave me this very chronic empty and anxious feeling for 99% of the time I was in it that hasn't really left since tbh even though I got over that particular person. it was the strange loneliness that comes with long distance that was awful for my mental health. I think long distance works if you're sure that person is the love of your life and there is a guaranteed plan for it not to drag out

Girl, just because it’s not now, doesn’t mean it’s not ever. I think you have to be sad for what could have been, and focus on knowing what this feels like alike for the next time whether it’s with him or another person. From someone who was in this exact same situation four years ago and we are now together.

Omg girl we are LITERALLY in the same boat 31, heading towards my first actual relationship and long-distance being the main reason for us to not continue, he pursued me.. but unfortunately I’m weak and we’re still in contact so it’s making it really hard… and the uncertainty of not having any contact (he has no social media) sends me into a spiral making it impossible for me to cut it off, I know I should I just can’t seem to bring myself to do it 😭

my first relationship 2 years ago when I was 30, was a distanced relationship, I bet could work for a some, but I highly not recommend it as 1st relationship ever, I know not everyone is the same, but he ended up cheating, manipulating me since I had no relationship experiences it was easy to take advantage in that way on me, but I wanted to experience a relationship so bad so 🤷🏻♀️lot of lessons learned

I know it hurts, but I think you should you proud of yourself for putting yourself first and not holding yourself back for a potential relationship. Because you’re right, even if you stayed he could’ve not asked you to be his girlfriend.

Similar thing happened to me recently.. he said he loves me and that he wants to marry me but only if I would move to a whole different continent with him… I tried to compromise in ways but it wasn’t enough for him and I grief the what if but I know that all of us going through this will find someone who it will work out with (or I hope at least, really going through it right now 😭) ❤️🩹

Me tf too, girl. All mine had to do was have patience... and I have learned things and grown and blah blah blah... but it still hurts so bad. So. Bad. And the truth is... there *are* always differences which could be made. It is all a choice, and love means choosing that person every single day. It's perfectlt natural to be sad as hell and grieve.
