@cloud9clay: 🏺🇯🇵 last week we explored some ancient kiln sites in bizen japan that are roughly 1000 years old!!! my mind was blown thinking about how massive these kilns used to be and how old the shards that remain are! some of these anagama kilns were 40-50 meters long and 5 meters wide ~ these kilns would typically be fired for 2 weeks per load of pottery, continuously stoked around the clock! (that’s a lot of wood!!) 🪵 so much history beneath my feet, feeling very grateful that we got to experience this bizen history 💗 #bizen #japanesepottery #japantravel #ancientkiln #japanesehistory
