Japan is amazing on an American salary. It’s not easy to live there on Japanese salary.

Okaerinasai! The US airport restroom was when it really hit me… I’m back in the ghetto. 😩 Japan changed me in ways I didn’t expect. I’m not quite the same person I was before. 🤍
I cried when I landed in San Francisco. It was dirty and everyone was yelling 😭

When I left Tokyo and landed in Atlanta and this mess was at my gate really did it for me. I also got sick for a few days once I ate the food back here again. It’s insane.

Do you have a bachelor's degree? Because if not a work visa in Japan isn't happening. 🤔

my life in Tokyo :
As an American living in Tokyo you can’t compare the average US city/community to such a large city. Before I moved to Tokyo I lived in Philadelphia for almost 15 years. I never owned a car and didn’t drive at all. There were more than half a dozen grocery stores with a 15 minute walk of my apartment. I could also walk to work, walk to stores for shopping, and most of the city has mixed used zoning so you have shops and apartments on top of and next to each other. Growing up I lived in many states including Florida. Not liking the US is one thing, but not comparing where you live now to a major city is a big stretch. There are so many things I miss about Philly, but at this point in my life I’m content with living in Tokyo.

It has been 11 days, 9 hours, and 27 seconds since I returned from Japan, and I completely agree with this sentiment. While most people may not understand these feelings, those who have experienced it know that it brings a sense of peace to both the heart and the mind. Here in FL as well😩

I was born in the states but since my mom is a japanese national, she put me on the kosegi (family registry in japan) so at any point I could become naturalized. . . makes me feel super lucky but at this point in my life I have things great here, I don't have the same opportunity of working for an american company in my career field :/ I think living on a normal salary there would leave you stuck there, most japanese can't afford to travel abroad due to their horrendous exchange rate

McDonald’s just doesn’t hit the same. For example, I had the sausage Mc griddle in Japan and it was phenomenal. Living in the US I used to get a sausage Mc griddle every day for breakfast on my way to job sites. Ever since I came back from Japan, I quit getting ing them. I cook everything different now and it makes me want to move to Japan even more. If only I could find a company that is hiring assembly techs or bicycle mechanics that can sponsor a visa
