Been there. Stayed about a week. Theres a cave down in a hole that you climb down into and can see out over the ocean. Incredible place but spiritual, and not in a good way. Saw a guy contorting his neck and face when playing a cello. I took supplies to the missionaries that lived there and helped translate the Bible I to Rapa Nui language; the first one ever.

I find the most fascinating part about it is where the island is located. it's over 2,000 miles away from any mainland

What if each one was constructed by an individual person over their lifetime and that is their enduring life's work?

The mud flood probably covered them. Not erosion

you know what they didn't have back then? TV or cell phones are much in the way of entertainment. it was probably an honor to be able to carve one of these.. they probably had slaves chip out and pull these heavy ass stones into position just like the pyramids👍

When the first explorers discovered the islands the locals told them the giants with large ears built these not them. Derek Olson discusses this. After actually reading the Spanish chronicles early explorers were bumping into giants here and there. We don’t know our history

Erosion doesn’t bury anything. It’s called the great flood. In a book called the Bible

I believe the great flood in Noah's day buried them.

Considering the island’s small population and the use of only simple tools (no metal or wheels), the existence of more than a thousand moai and some of them up to 10 metres tall and weighing over 80 tons all seems unnatural. For that reason, I do not accept the explanation based on clever engineering, communal labour, and cultural motivation.
