The ACA wasn’t the “status quo”. Nor was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009.

I mean, they can easily condemn it once it’s a done deal. Nothing to lose. They probably weren’t even looking at local things until it was trending

My view is that, in reality, our 2 party system is evolving to be the Establishment vs. the Progressives. Republicans and Democrats are both "establishment" and are both essentially fighting for the same thing, which is the preservation of corporate interests.

I don’t buy that the establishment dems were against this. There is ALWAYS exactly enough dems not up for re-election to make these things pass, and Schumer and Jeffries aren’t stopping them. Between the “punishing universities”, “punishing socialists”, and straight up whatever that “allow whales to be extinct” thing was… people in charge are getting paid to let things get worse, and establishment dems are ok with it because they can raise money campaigning on how bad things are until they retire rich, instead of actually doing anything.

Democrats are HR for the government. They act like they’re there for the workers, but they’re actually there to protect the corporations from the workers.

Jeffries controls weapons grade political money: > **Jeffries sits within a broader Democratic leadership money network that includes Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.** Pelosi’s role matters because she remains an elite Democratic fundraiser, institutional power broker, and political validator as Jeffries seeks to lead the House. She has publicly backed Jeffries’s path to the speakership and is preparing to leave Congress at the end of 2026, but her donor network and influence do not simply transfer to him as cash.[1][2] > > The identifiable financial resources already documented total approximately **$246.65 million** across Jeffries-linked committees, the DCCC, House Majority PAC, House Majority Forward, and United Democracy Project. That is a **network-capacity figure**, not money personally owned by Jeffries. Pelosi should be identified separately as an additional **influence and fundraising asset**, because adding her historical committee receipts or PAC totals to current cash balances would mix different time periods and double-count money. > > Pelosi’s campaign committee raised approximately $86.6 million and her leadership PAC approximately $51 million over the 2000–2024 period—but those are historical cumulative receipts, not current cash on hand. Her leadership PAC, PAC to the Future, reportedly raised $8 million in 2024 and gave $1 million to Democratic candidates.[3][4] > > **That is the point:** replacing Jeffries is not merely replacing one candidate. It means replacing a leadership structure connected to party committees, joint fundraising committees, super PACs, nonprofit organizations, donor networks—and the continuing influence of Speaker Emerita Pelosi. Party money is structural, but leadership determines who can access, coordinate, and deploy that structure. Stop reducing political power to personalities. Follow the network. The most accurate headline is: > **Jeffries operates within an identifiable $246.65 million Democratic-aligned political-money network, reinforced by Pelosi’s continuing institutional and donor influence.**
