I keep seeing people say AI isn't hurting the environment and honestly I think that's just not true. Let me tell you why I actually care about EcoGPT and why I switched. The mission is pretty clear. AI should not have to cost the planet to work. You should be able to use it without feeling like you're draining resources or supporting a company that doesn't care about you. EcoGPT is a public benefit corporation, so that mindset is built into how it operates. It runs on efficient open source models and its hosting is in a Google Cloud region that reports 98% carbon free energy. And it's not just talk. EcoGPT has planted 163,386 real trees through verified reforestation nonprofits, mostly Trees for the Future and One Tree Planted. Actual confirmed trees. I made this video because I was tired of the conversation being all doom and no options. It's easy to say AI is bad and stop there. But that doesn't help anyone. I'm not going to pretend quitting AI completely is realistic, because it's not. I still use it. The difference is I switched to one that's trying to give back instead of just taking. If we're all going to keep using AI anyway, and we are, we might as well pick the one that plants trees.
