Against complex deep-sea surroundings and tough weather conditions, Chinese builders safely delivered the Maldives’ first cross-sea bridge with high quality and efficiency within an ultra-short 33-month construction window. On the afternoon of August 31, 2018, five couples attended the one-of-a-kind “Bridge Wedding” right on the bridge deck. Each couple was assigned their own exclusive space adorned with bright blooms, surrounded by joyful smiling relatives and friends. The solemn recitation of the Holy Quran mingled with festive, upbeat pop music.
