Do the same thing as with kids, show them it's hot. We have a glass top stove now, which the cats didn't recognise as a stove but did recognise as a butt warmer because it's heat conductive. So I took them all over when it was still hot and put their faces near it and said "no, hot". They all check if it's hot before they walk on it and they don't jump up at the stove now. One of them accidentally turned the gas on one of our previous stoves when he jumped up on it, so I'd definitely get the child lock covers for gas knobs if I had one again. I did look at the big chopping board covers that sit over the whole stove top, but I'd need a custom sized one for the size of our stove and they did fine after I showed them it was hot.

It may work if you have a citrus spay of some kind, maybe AJAX, to spray around the stove. Cats typically hate the smell. Otherwise, I have no idea man.

I think unfortunately you have to let them find out for themselves, my cat has burned her paw after I've used the stove (minor with no visible burn marks) and they still jump onto my bench but they now know not to go near the stove after I've cooked 😅

Spray bottle with water, every time you see them up there! My cats never went on mine luckily but water seems to help with behavioural problems! Then stop after they stop because it’s not fun
