@donnabartlett: Faith Over Fear 🙏🏼. In time, the physical wounds will fade and the scars will become part of my story. But what you failed to realize in your moment of recklessness was the damage that couldn’t be sealed closed—the broken spirit left behind to deal with the aftermath. I have always been the person who loves without end. The trusting one. The giving one. The heart that knows no stranger and tries to see the good in everyone. Now, parts of that person feel unfamiliar to me. I’ve been left brokenhearted, fighting anxiety and carrying a fear of so many of the things I once loved about this life. Things that once felt safe don’t always feel safe anymore. And some days, healing my spirit feels much harder than healing my body. BUT YOU DID NOT TAKE MY FAITH! I trust that God will restore the pieces of me that were broken that day. I trust that He will quiet the fear, strengthen my heart, and help me find my way back to the person I was—perhaps even a stronger version of her. I will not allow one person’s reckless act to steal the rest of my life. I choose faith over fear. I choose healing over bitterness. I choose to believe that God is still writing my story. “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” — Psalm 118:6
