@musliminvesting: M is for Market Capitalisation. Market capitalisation, or market cap, is the total value of a company’s shares in the stock market. It is calculated by multiplying the company’s share price by the total number of shares available. In simple terms, it shows how much the market values the company. Companies are often categorised as small-cap, mid-cap, or large-cap, depending on their market value. Generally, larger companies may be more established, while smaller companies may offer more growth potential but can come with greater risk. From a halal perspective, market cap can also be used when assessing financial ratios, such as how much debt a company carries. But remember: a bigger company does not automatically mean a better investment. And a smaller company does not automatically mean a bad one. Market cap is a useful measure, but it should never replace proper research and Shariah screening. Market cap + halal analysis = smarter investing.
