Technically, this was a crop failure. Thinning is the practice of removing some of the young fruit early in the season so the tree can focus its energy on the fruit that remains. Fewer peaches means bigger, sweeter peaches. 🍑😍 Only… I skipped that step this year. 😅 The result? A whole lot of peaches... just much smaller than I was hoping for. But we’re about as close to zero waste as possible around here, so this “failure” became last Saturday’s special chef item for my CSA members. Sometimes, less really is more. Just ripe peaches, cooked down the old-fashioned way. That’s it! Spoon them over yogurt, pair them with cheese on a charcuterie board, swirl them into oatmeal, or warm a little and drizzle them over vanilla ice cream. OR keep it super simple: Organic sourdough toast (baked by yours truly and included with every delivery). Grass-fed butter (I can get that for members, too). Peach preserves. And a good cup of coffee. ☕️ Some mornings don’t need much more than that. If you’ve been wondering what a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is, this is exactly why I love it. I offer a CSA delivery service that brings seasonal food, homemade specialties, and local products right to your door. It’s one of the easiest ways to eat with the seasons, support local agriculture, and discover foods you probably wouldn’t pick up at the grocery store. If you’re in or around the Indianapolis metro (including Broad Ripple, Fishers, Carmel, Greenwood, Kokomo, or anywhere in between) don’t assume you’re too far. There’s a good chance I already deliver near you. Comment the keyword ‘CSA’ and I’ll reach out with more details! . . #naturelovers #foodisfreedom #beginnergardener #urbanfarmer #eatwholefoods
