Girl has a point. If she were to know anything about her biological father, anything at all, she wouldn’t feel like she was unworthy of knowing. Shutting your kid down when they ask about their other parent will lead to resentment. And have coping issues.

I see both view points in this considering I had a similar situation. Violet should’ve seen her mother was trying so hard to stay clean for her even after years of this. And her mom should’ve seen that Voiler was hurt by her actions and should’ve sat down and talked to her about it.

The way the mothers ended up weaponizing the information about her father is so telling… instead of sharing the information in a way that is best for the child, they ended up using it to shut her down.

Violet has her issues, but when you need to overcompensate maturity because the protector in your life is incapacitated then other aspects of yourself get thrown aside and don’t mature the same way, it’s funny because I feel sad for Christy’s character when Violet’s character finally cuts the ties but I also envy Violet’s strength because removing myself from my alcoholic parents is so crushing. I want to take care of them but I NEED to take care of me, I hate the things that have happened to them but they’ve done horrible things to me and I’ve put myself in some worse situations all due to my learned stupidity and what I’ve wrongly normalized from my parents experiences, in the end if I really want to take care of myself then I need to separate myself from them. The same goes for Violet’s character; the show lacks at certain points but it really does continuously cover deep subjects.

She had a right to know because not knowing him allowed her to idealize and idolize a man who was a piece of shit but still contributed to her existence. Knowing hes a bastard is better than filling in the gaps.
