There’s some nuance that you’re missing here. 1. Companies and individuals aren’t using AI appropriately. Instead of using it to free up time to be creative and think, they’re using the AI to DO the thinking and creative work and 2. AI simply isn’t reliable enough yet for the tedious work. It can’t do math. It can’t do anything detail oriented. It hallucinates data or misrepresents it. So as it stands, AI isn’t capable of being useful in either category

I does kinda suck that LLMs are never going away even if the frontier business model doesn't succeed, because companies will just use local or open source models and rent server racks to avoid paying insane fees, but it is pretty obvious that the "goal" of taking all white collar work probably won't happen

Simultaneously, if the big companies dont use the technology much because it's rendered useless for them, and if the inference cost is being subsidized greatly by the AI companies (which we'll find out here soon once Anthropic and OpenAI go public), it will inevitably cost the small companies too much to use as OpenAI and Anthropic will have to skyrocket their usership price to stay in business. From how I see it, lean AI- right sizing the data for specific use cases- is gonna be the only way the smaller companies will be able to use it.

It’s kinda wild how far AI got in certain areas where employers are pushing it and can’t use it which scares me as a society. When did we become the type of DIVE in without vetting society? I just don’t think we were like that before

I have watched so many interviews with ai company executives that have said something to the effect of “people just need to get with it and they’re not”. I think a lot of them genuinely expected no resistance from the public, when in fact, the public is resisting a lot.

Yes this is exactly what I’ve been thinking but haven’t been able to put words to. Theres a big push at my job to get rid of dumb tasks so we can actually work at the top of our license, but my department is like…okay but you’ve never given us the time to do that so we don’t know how to????
