I'm right handed and have always used the wrong hands..... fork in right and knife in left. seems really awkward the other way around

In etiquette terms I think your meant to hold it in your left to cut and transfer to your right to eat. I’m right handed and just hold it in my right hand but you’re meant to have your knife in your dominant hand😊

I’m right handed but hold my knife in my left hand, I remember school trying to correct me but then I went on packed lunches and I guess they never got the chance 😅

In ye olden olden days... knife was always in dominant hand, for protection.
At formal sit down meals, knife goes on the right.
However... we have evolved and it's much easier to eat with the folk in your dominant hand, so most people do!
most switch if cutting a tough bit of meat, as the knife is the doing the work and the fork just holds it in place.

I’m predominantly right handed but can use my left to write with. I eat left handed with my fork in my right hand. My brother does also and so do 2/3 of my kids. My son in law also does.
