@learnhowtophotogr6: #creatorsearchinsights Ever wondered what the Af button on the back of the camera does? It’s the back focus button and this is how to use it Tshirt - Harperfinchdesigns - use code LHTP20 for 20% disc
Forget about it. It’s 2026 and we have awesome mirrorless cameras with smart and fast tracking focus!!!! This advice was valid for DSLRs 15 years ago

half press then full press, why do so called "professional" photographers try to over complicate the shutter button just to push back button focus? there's no need for back button focus anymore except for preference

So, do you push and hold AF-ON if you are tracking a player in a football game or push release and hold down shutter for burst?

makes 0 sense to me you have to do two actions with two fingers that you can do only with one... just turn on pre Af and that's it

I'm using a Lumix G9, my back AF button is a must-use because my trigger button is so sensitive 😅
especially when you manually want to set the focus in AV/A moder yourself.

For those who don't understand the reason why this button exists. in shooting sports or fast action scenarios, it is useful. While it may not be a game changer, it still offers significant advantages, such as eliminating hunting delays for focus.

I touch the subject on my camera screen then press the shoot button to capture the image. Most times I do press the AF-On button before pressing the shoot button tho.

I'm brand new to photography and I'm coming across this issue, quite often. When in manual mode I have the settings where I think I want them and I press the shutter button it doesn't allow the picture to be taken. The screen goes red and does nothing.
Obviously, its the settings, but i don't know what im doing wrong.
