@manafishrov: Is 8 propellers in one direction overkill? Most underwater drones spread their thrusters across different axes so they can move any direction without turning first. It makes them nimble, but only a fraction of the power ever goes into going forward. We built this one the other way around. All 8 propellers face the same way, so everything it has pushes forward, and it steers on thrust alone. Run one side harder than the other and it pitches and yaws. Play the clockwise propellers against the counterclockwise ones and it rolls, using nothing but the reaction torque from the motors themselves, the same trick a quadcopter uses to spin on the spot. The calm part at the start is our quaternion based PID juggling all of that to hold its attitude. It's a Manafish, our 3d-printable underwater drone. Same electronics housing and components as the standard kit, on a frame we designed specifically for speed. We make kits with all the components to build one. We are currently testing the design with 50 beta testers, each 3d-printing and making their own Manafish. After testing, we will launch the kits. If you want one, you can join the waitlist with the link in our bio:) #3dprinting #electronics #mechatronics #robotics #3dprint

Make it bigger and able to carry people and offer tours of the titanic… I doubt anything could go wrong.

What’s the justification for 8 props that 4 couldn’t do?

This is significantly less efficient and makes less sense than one big propeller.

Why not just send a fucking 3D printer to Mars and 3d print everything tf

This comment section really pisses me off, either they think it’s AI or they have suddenly become engineers and are dictating what you should do next 🤨
