While differences between Martin Luther King and Malcolm X are often simplified into violence vs non-violence, Black Studies Professor Kehinde Andrews argues that their main differences stemmed from the ways in which they understood society. King thought that society needed to be reformed; Malcolm X thought it needed to be broken apart and reconstructed entirely.
