From what I'm thinking, They probably save Skirk to play a big role when Surtalogi eventually introduces into the game after Snezhnaya, since we've faced Rerir in NodKrai already and we saw Rhinedottir in Snezhnaya trailer and during the archon quest Pierro mentioned Hroptatyr. But it's just my speculation
