@robdwillis: How Chris Williamson gets people past their rehearsed answers I analysed 16 of Chris Williamson's top interviews. Around 42 hours of conversation. He does one thing over and over that most interviewers miss. He gives people their own line back. He finds a phrase they have said before, usually something they are known for saying. He repeats it almost word for word. Then he asks something incredibly simple. With Jordan Peterson: ten words of Peterson's own claim, then one word: 'why?' With Naval Ravikant: he hands Naval his own statement back so Naval cannot just recite the answer he has given a hundred times before. He has to actually reconsider it. I counted him do this 197 times across those 16 interviews. It is not deep research. It is almost always something the guest has already said in public. You are not asking a better question. You are removing their rehearsed answer. You spend the obvious answer first so they cannot. Which interviewer do you think does this best?
