@julia.santoso2: In the palm-oil plantations of Ketapang, West Kalimantan, a struggle for survival is unfolding as smoke fills the Borneo skyline. A farmer named Jais discovered an orangutan writhing on the ground in a weak state on Sunday morning. It was clear the animal was suffering, and Jais provided it with water while calling for help. When the wildlife foundation Yayasan Inisiasi Alam Rehabilitasi Indonesia arrived two hours later, the orangutan had fainted. Named Sampurna after the village where it was found, the 20-year-old animal was in critical condition. Veterinarian Komara explained that while there were no severe burn injuries, Sampurna was suffering from an acute respiratory infection, vomiting, and hypoxia due to the thick smoke. To stabilize the orangutan, the team provided oxygen through small tubes in its nose and administered fluids via an intravenous drip hung from a palm-oil frond. CEO Karmele Llano Sanchez noted that the foundation has now rescued seven orangutans due to fires. While Indonesia’s Forestry Ministry reports that 202,010 hectares have burned from January to July, the stakes reach far beyond land statistics. Sampurna will be moved to a rehabilitation center for further treatment and eventually released back into the wild. It is not only humans; animals and plants also suffer in Indonesia. #sampurnaorangutan #saveourwildlife #saveourforest #prayforkalimantan #juliawisdom❤️
