They definitely didn't watch Cosby or Family Matters or any show that shows/movies that have black representation. The race conversation has always been in TV & movies. Some subtle and some straight in your face. The topic has always been there.

It amazes me how many people haven’t engaged with Black media when I look back to my younger days. I grew up with Moesha, Kenan & Kel, Sister Sister and Fresh Prince on constantly. It was what was on and it never occurred to me not to watch it or that it wasn’t meant for me. My mum and I watched the Cosby show and Desmond’s together too. I suppose a massive downside of more channels and more streaming options means it’s easier to pick and choose very specific media

I saw a French film called "coward" at the international film festival. its about 2 men in WW1 falling in love on the front lines. I went in expecting a tragedy. spoiler alert: it had a happy ending. I was so surprised & honestly I shouldn't be surprised when theres a happy ending but it was a gay war film, theyre never happy
