It’s more than that. Female artists can’t be a breadwinner usually so they have to be the default parent because usually if the dad is not an artist he would make more money. The arts takes decades of sacrifice to get good and to “make it” and most women can’t sacrifice the well being of a child to this.

I was the default parent and yep I gave up my dreams to raise my kids and that is the reason I support my daughter who says she doesn't want kids

Outraged, but not surprised. The men were judged on their ability to do the job, she was judged on whether her children would be an inconvenience. Dads get to be professionals. Mums have to prove they won’t be problematic 😡

I only found out when my mum was in her 60s, that a teacher had once told her she could have a future drawing cartoons. Instead, she had two kids by the age of 22 and was stuck in a loveless marriage. Yay.
