@youpayforthis: I saw a mum on TikTok saying she’s spending £30+ a week on buses getting her kids to school. I helped her check whether she could be eligible for school transport through the Education Authority and thought I’d share this because there could be loads of parents paying for transport who don’t realise they should check. Kids have just gone back to school, so if you’re in Northern Ireland, check before you keep paying! 🚌 Generally, it’s 2 miles for under 11s and 3 miles for over 11s, but there are other rules around your school choices too. 👉 Check your eligibility here: https://transport.eani.org.uk/EligibilityChecker/ £30 a week = over £1,500 a year. Definitely worth checking! Save this and send it to another NI parent. 👇 #NorthernIreland #NIParents #SchoolTransport #EducationAuthority #BackToSchool
considering education is mandatory, uniforms and travel should be free.

wasn't eligible it's a joke, he can get a bus pass to the school literally down the road that he can easily walk too but won't give him a bus pass to his school the other side of town, make it make sense 🤷

There should be school buses, for every school, all school uniforms should be purchased in any shop, and buy a tie or school badge within school. No stupid PE kits for 1 or 2 classes a week (not talking about competition sports)

I lived 2.8 miles from my high school and was denied a bus pass 🙈😆 this was 25 years ago mind. I think any child should have free transport to and from school where they legally have to be or else they face a fine from the same council who refused them a free bus pass 🙈

is it not if the travel is over 2 miles for a kid under 11 and over 3 for high school. otherwise only those living close to school would get the passes
