@mirror.image.para: 🏨💀 THE EXCHANGE HOTEL | Gordonsville, Virginia It opened as a hotel in 1860. It wouldn't stay one for long. When the Civil War erupted, the Exchange Hotel became part of the Gordonsville Receiving Hospital, where wounded and dying soldiers arrived by train from nearby battlefields. Men entered these doors torn apart by war—some facing brutal surgeries and amputations performed with the limited medicine of the 1860s. Not everyone who arrived here ever left. The halls that once held travelers became filled with blood, suffering, screams, sickness and death. And more than 160 years later, some believe those halls still aren't empty. Investigators and visitors have reported disembodied voices, footsteps coming from empty rooms, shadow figures, apparitions, unexplained sounds and the unmistakable feeling that someone—or something—is standing nearby. Today, it's the Exchange Hotel Civil War Medical Museum. But after dark, you're allowed to experience a very different side of its history. 👻 Private paranormal investigations are available. Imagine shutting off the lights inside a building where wounded Civil War soldiers once fought for their final breath... …and then hearing footsteps coming toward you. Yeah. We need to investigate this one. 🖤 #ExchangeHotel #HauntedVirginia #Ghost #HauntedHistory #MirrorImageParanormal

My grandpa painted the building once, and while he was painting his radio kept changing and changing stations. The scaffolding would also shake and rattle but he was the only one there when he was working.

I’ve passed by several times and before knowing any of this I would find myself staring as I drove by then I started hearing the stories..All I can say is that there is so much history out here..I live in Mineral and lived in the middle of the woods for 20 years and some of the shit I’ve experienced 🤷🏼♀️😂..I’d like to take a tour here tho..I’m just so sensitive and don’t know how much I could handle it knowing all the pain that happened 🥺

It seems like every large home from New York to Georgia were turned into a hospital during the battles from the Revolution to the Civil war...😳

I went there one time and when I was in a room near the top of the stairs it sounded like people were coming up so I moved to get out of the way cause it was a small area but there was no one there.
