I truly think the only reason why their situation was so miserable is bc ML never communicates. He might be cursed but that doesn't affect him showing and expressing explicit affection and love for FL. It also doesn't stop him from telling her about the curse or in some communicating about it to her. I just don't like ML.

im srry but some of yall are blind, varkas is not some egotistical ml. first off he was cursed to put the twins before anyone, a CURSE is not VOLUNTARY. so why cant he treat thalia with warmth despite all of that? Because thalia is confused herself, constantly lashing out and i love her to bits but varkas is a very literal person, if she says she never wants to see him again he'll take that as a command. Most of vakas gestures are things he id allowed to express by the conditions of his curse, actions likr rushing to marry thalia while postponing hid marriage to ayla for years and watching over thalia (like when she picked up that potion) under the premise of watching her for the sake of the twins. you guys need to remember while we are listening to thalias narrative and understanding every complicated expression of hers, he can not read her thoughts like we can. ALOT of this story is reafing brtween the lines, actions over words, seeing the characters shift over time, please develop some media literacy guys.
