as a refrigerant license holder I used to specialize in R12 R134a Automotive Tech whenever doing anything on AC lines, or even the fuel straighter valve we used to always replace those Trader valves. it's cheap insurance to put in a new valve rather than expecting the old one to survive well that's also why requires you to make sure it doesn't lose any vacuum for 30 minutes after pulling the whole system down before moving on to the next step.

as a auto technician for 20+ I can tell u it's never the fill valves. its usually the evaporator core!!

Wrong. 90% of the time it is the compressor!! They only make things last until the warranty expires TODAY!! This is the world we live in today UNFORTUNATELY IT SUCKS!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬

Rarely is it the schrader valve. More often, a hose, compressor, condenser or evaporator.

mine has a leak, I packed it with Teflon tape, it's been like that for 4 years now. my ac in my truck cools to 35°.

they are not the same valve as a wheel. they are Schrader valves but they are a much different size. and why would you put water into the system, you can spray a small amount of soapy water directly on the valve and see if its leaking? and compressors fail quite often, the schrader valves dont really fail unless they are really old

That’s similar to the air valve on our tires. I had a bad one that wouldn’t let my tire fill w/ compressed air. Mechanic replaced it free. Thanks PEPBOYS.

All my years of being a mechanic, I have never found that valve to be the cause of any problems during normal service. We replaced them. But finding one at fault, and that was the only problem, never just somebody trying to sell you something that's it
