@bebzgra: Saint Charbel Makhlouf is often described as the saint with the most reported miracles in modern times. Born Youssef Antoun Makhlouf on May 8, 1828, in the mountain village of Bqaa Kafra, Lebanon, he entered the Maronite Lebanese Order, took the name Charbel, and was ordained a priest in 1859. In 1875 he withdrew to a remote hermitage near the Monastery of Saint Maron in Annaya, where he spent the last 23 years of his life in silence, prayer, fasting, and simple labor. He died on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1898. When his body was later exhumed, it was found incorrupt and flexible, with a reddish oily liquid seeping from it for decades. A mysterious light was also reported over his grave. These signs drew increasing attention to the humble hermit. Since his death, the monastery in Annaya has recorded tens of thousands of favors and healings attributed to his intercession—numbers that devotees frequently cite as among the highest of any saint. Pilgrims of many faiths, including Christians, Muslims, and Druze, visit his tomb seeking help. One of the best-known modern cases is that of Nohad El Shami, a Lebanese mother left partially paralyzed after a stroke. In January 1993 she dreamed that two monks, one of them Saint Charbel, operated on her neck. She awoke with visible scars and completely healed. The Catholic Church formally approved three healings for his cause: two from 1950 that led to his beatification by Pope Paul VI in 1965, and a third that supported his canonization in 1977. Yet reported miracles continue worldwide. Saint Charbel’s hidden life of prayer and the extraordinary favors linked to him have made him a powerful intercessor for the sick and those seeking deeper faith. His feast day is July 24. Saint Charbel, pray for us! 🙏 #catholicfaith #FaithInAction #catholicchurch #CatholicNews #NewsUpdate
