why tip at all? its the employers job to ensure the staff are paid sufficiently. why are waiters getting more in tips than paid? USA tipping culture is ludicrous.

The servers have to tip out a percentage of their sales for that day, so if you don’t tip they loose money serving you

the money might be getting to the boys. I think it's really weird they think only the poor or middle income people should be obligated to pay the 20%

Gloria_from_cleveland :
The whole point of the tip system is that everyone should tip 20% no matter what they purchase. Otherwise you should just pay workers properly

If you have over 20 Rèal in your possession you should be charged a legally mandated 50% tip minimum regardless of order.

tipping culture is ridiculous and shouldn't even be a thing. wages, expenses, etc should be included in the meal and a tip is an option as an extra thank you for the great service

I worked as a server for years, while I would HOPE to get a tip, I never EXPECT a tip. The tip out sucks if you make no tips that night, but not everyone does tip out and the wages range depending on where you live/work.

I think if you’re spending the money like 15k dinner you should tip like a couple hundred, maybe 1k if you have it to spend

If the poor (me) are expected to tip they should have to do the bare minimum.

If there's a sommelier serving you that bottle, telling about it and pouring your every glass for you, that deserves a 20% tip. Then again, if they just bring it out to you and leave you until it's time to pay, then you shouldn't tip. I'm a bartender btw

by what ive heard. American restaurants charge the same or close to the rest of the world. so how rich are all the restaurant owners if they aren't paying them a decent wage
