@thepinkribbondoctor: Before you give up on your aromatase inhibitor because of joint pain or poor sleep… read this. If you’re taking anastrozole, letrozole, or exemestane, you may be familiar with the aches, stiffness, muscle soreness, or sleep problems that can come with lowering estrogen. And one food that has gotten some attention for these symptoms? Tart cherries. Tart cherries contain compounds called anthocyanins and other polyphenols that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Some research suggests they may help with muscle soreness and inflammation. There’s also evidence that tart cherry products may have a modest benefit for sleep, potentially because they naturally contain melatonin and other compounds involved in sleep regulation. Tart cherries are NOT a replacement for your aromatase inhibitor. And if your side effects are making you consider stopping treatment, please talk to your oncology team first. There are other strategies that may help including exercise, resistance training, symptom management, and sometimes changing the endocrine therapy itself. You shouldn’t have to choose between effective cancer treatment and quality of life. SAVE this post so you remember this simple strategy. And tell me in the comments: Have you tried tart cheeries to help with your side effects from taking an aromatase inhibitor? If so did it help? #BreastCancer #AromataseInhibitor #BreastCancerTreatment #anastrozole #HormonePositiveBreastCancer

Olly makes a sleep gummy that has tart cherry. I’ve been taking them and they work SO well for sleep! I’m on my 3rd bottle. I take Anastrazole and the joint pains/stiffness is awful. I also take Magnesium Glycinate at night. It’s insane the amount of supplements we have to take to offset the side effects. 🩷

Does the tart cherry supplement work the same? I can't drink the juice because of the sugar.

I used to love a glass of wine or old fashioned night cap. Since my diagnosis I have cut out all alcohol (was a sad day for me), instead I now love to make a tart cherry mocktail at bedtime. I use a large/fancy ice cube, tart cherry juice, club soda and dried orange and mint sprig for garnish. Cheers.

I’ve been taking tart cherry supplements for 3 years while on Letrozole. I ran out for one month and could definitely tell a huge difference.

I’m so glad I saw this. I just started Anastrazole last week and I’ve been so worried about joint pain. I haven’t been on it long enough to have joint pain but I have noticed that it has made my allergies noticeably worse. Can you talk about this?
