@hopewithholly: Replying to @Trish Have you ever noticed how often the Bible takes things women literally do with their bodies—carry life, give birth, bleed, nourish a child—and recreates them as spiritual ideas? Women have wombs. God the Father gives life. Women give birth. Christians are “born again.” A woman’s water breaks. Baptism becomes rebirth through water. Women bleed, and Leviticus calls that blood ritually unclean. Jesus bleeds, and his blood cleanses sin. Women nourish babies from their bodies. Communion gives believers Christ’s body and blood. Men literally come from women, yet Genesis tells the story of woman coming from man. I’m not claiming ancient men sat around plotting to copy female reproduction. I’m saying the pattern is worth noticing—especially in religious traditions that then placed most spiritual authority in the hands of men. And questioning that pattern is not disobedience. If God gave us brains capable of reason, curiosity, and critical thinking, why would using them honestly be a sin? Even Jacob wrestled with God. So wrestle with the hard questions.
