Take the arrest and don't settle the lawsuit. Find a lawyer that will take it to the Supreme Court if necessary. I've seen way too many where they settle out of court for 30, 40 or 50 grand. Make them pay so they learn.

While they do need reasonable articulable suspicion, they do not have to tell him what it is to detain, unfortunately.

what is this obsessive need for them to see your ID?? its crazy. a police officer should always strife to de-escalate but they always seem to do the opposite. and i know because i was tased in my own house without provoking it in any sense. i was respectful was sitting down spoke calmly and didnt use provanities and they tased me nontheless. then they cuffed me and forcefully tranported me to a mental institution because they said i was suffering from a psychosis all this without a proper diagnosis.
