my dad told me the exact day he was going to do it but our family was never serious so I didnt think he was serious until he did it in front of me and my brother. dont beat yourself up for missing signs. I missed an entire itinerary

mine attempted but did not succeed. looking back, before he attempted, he had gone into detail about a lot of things, even went as far as saying that just in case he dies one day he wanted to have his sperms frozen so I could at least try to have a piece of him (we dont have kids).

My husband is a marine corps veteran as well with some really bad PTSD. He’s only 32 and he’s started doing the “if something happens to me here’s what you do” and I will be talking to his therapist. Thank you for bringing awareness even if it was at the cost of loosing your best friend. The pain I know a lot of us feel for you is deep. Nobody should have to go through what you and your girls are going through.

My best friend left and took her child with her. It was 10 yrs ago but the pain is still very fresh. She didn’t leave a note. She was talking about how she was excited to have a garage sale & changing her boys last name when he turned 13. I feel like I’m living a fucking nightmare. I’m so very sorry for your loss love 💔 so so so very sorry

I missed alot of the signs with my son too, after blaming myself for awhile I realized that I was human too. Love your husband, enjoy the time you had with him, sit with the bad days when you have them, and remember you are a beautiful person and don't let stupid people have any of your head space, no one will ever understand. People who are planning to take their own life are usually great at hiding it from the ones close to them. Once someone has made that decision there is usually not much of anything you can do to change their mind. Which is why they don’t show many signs bc they don’t want anyone to know and to try and stop them. Please don’t carry guilt bc for one you are not at fault and two, he would not want you.

My husband used to say men in his family don't make it to 70. There have been a lot of men in his family take their own lives when they were in their 20s. He was 45 and I never thought he would. I thought we had made it passed that so we were safe.

You know I make those kinds of jokes all the time. I also have an “in case I die” note on my phone for my kids that has life insurance, retirement, etc in it. Could those have been signs? Maybe but also maybe not. I don’t think you missed anything. You did a great job in supporting him. This isn’t your fault.
