It’s amazing to me that there’s a few that condone this, we are missing a few details it seems! Eg was the deposit 50:50 paid and he just needed 2k more or did he pay all of it and she refused to contribute at all? We don’t know… but if it were the other way around a man would pay his last penny to look after a loving partner… if you feel the need for an emergency fund of 15k btw… that’s not an emergency fund really that’s a 2nd house deposit… 3-5k is more like an emergency fund… anyway… relationships are partnerships… you should be working together and not half assing it…
