Captain Priya Adhikari, Nepal’s first female helicopter captain, has spent days flying high-altitude rescue missions in the aftermath of devastating floods and landslides in Rasuwa. With roads destroyed, terrain buried under mud, and conditions becoming more dangerous by the hour, she kept flying. From rescuing climbers at altitudes above 6,000 metres to evacuating survivors from disaster-hit areas, her courage has taken her where few would dare to go. And perhaps the most powerful part? Among the devastation, she says seeing survivors wave as the helicopter lands gives her the strength to keep going.
