Susan's moodiness is most likely related to her husband leaving her or the date of the divorce (did they ever get divorced? Susan makes it seem like Dad just "disappeared").

my mom does this from September 30th (my bday/her father's death) through like mid March. Sept 30th triggers her and then all the following holidays triggers her but she won't do anything about it. It's mentally exhausting

My mom has a similar breakdown every year and it’s the same week she lost my sister (during month 8 of pregnancy) so… I don’t like Susan at all but I can understand if that’s why.
