Part of the short drama success is because they can easier skirt censorship regulations, not necessarily that people would opt for AI produced dramas if they could have live action shorts. But also the cdrama industry spends less on overall budgets for live action dramas on average compared to the US for lower budget live action dramas so that may influence quality of cdramas and where AI would have more success. The Chinese government is also very pro-AI so open criticism may also be largely curtailed.
