My question is when you’re doing the initial shot after that you begin to add English. Are you shifting the entire stick the length of tip for the English or are you pivoting the stick relative to the original shot?

I understand the running and inside English, where I struggle is determining the amount of deflection of the cue ball before contacting the object ball.
