I’ve heard of a good few people that if you are single and you pass away the government can keep your private pension not your kids.

I feel like pensions should be the only thing that can’t be split in a divorce..

It’s totally wrong and I personally think the law needs to change on this one.

You get penalised for making good life choices, to give to someone who made none.

So why would each other be entitled to each other’s pension? Wouldn’t you just say don’t touch mine and I won’t touch yours

I got divorced earlier this year, I was the main breaf winner and paid into a pension, so did she in later years. I had approx £21k in the pension, after seeking legal advice, they advised me judges tend not to take smaller amounts into consideration, they usually only consider anything over £100k but I suppose each circumstance is different. She got no pension, she got 55% of the house and everything in it....might get married again, it was fun 🤔🤪😂

I'm retiring next year with a Fire service pension which is relatively good.. But my wife has an even bigger pension and has been receiving bonus payments annually in the form of Cash and shares in her investment bank.. if we divorce, how is the bonuses divided if she has spent it..and just for clarity, every bonus that she has received over the last 25 years we have been together, I have always seen it as her bonus and never taken or asked for a single penny. She has bought the odd holiday, but as do I, like the last one we went on..I paid for it all.. so will that be an issue if we divorce 🤔

I was told the type of pension my ex had, I’d need a forensic accountant to work out what I’m entitled too. Is this correct?
