@midlifestockman: Knocked on this door a few times. Never got an answer. Went back another day and saw a code enforcement sticker instead. Turns out the neighbor next door was the actual owner. The house was her mom's; she'd passed last year, and nobody had touched the property since. She was so thankful someone finally knocked. That's the part that stays with me.
