@themojavecenter: Tadelakt is my favorite plaster. Inspired by Moroccan architecture you basically turn plaster back to stone! Interested to learn? Recipe is below to try on your own or come out to a class sometime! Make sure your substrate is prepped, needs a lime stucco that is level and flat or go right over tile backer board but you will need primer and most likely some sort of mesh for the plaster to adhere to. Recipe came from Benito Steen aka Nito Project on YouTube: Protein Heavy Tadelakt Plaster: 3 parts lime 3 parts NHL 3.5 (use regular lime if you can’t find this) 2 parts sifted sand 1 part marble sand (per 12 liters of dry mix I added different things depending on the coat) First coat additives: Extra 20–30 grit sand Paper pulp (about half a roll of toilet paper) 1/8 cup casein powder Second coat additives: 1/8 cup casein powder 6 egg whites Oil with black olive oil soap to keep the tradition alive or use anything that is fatty; tallow, beeswax, or use synthetic sealers if you choose. I want to start by saying thank you. Thank you to everyone who watches my content that provides the opportunities to do stuff like this. It wouldn’t be possible without all of you. So thank you for helping being part of this makeover! This school is over 100 years old and it was my honor to get the opportunity to bring a little life back into this court. I talked to a friend of mine who went to this school over 15 years ago and he told me those courts looked the same when he went there and he’d never seen a kid play on them before. So I think it’s safe to say they were ready for a revamp. Shoutout to the principles and office staff for letting me do this and I can’t wait to hear about the future use this court will get! Stay tuned as I’m already in the process of a few more schools! Side note, my kids love when I’m doing these schools because there are always new playgrounds for them to play on while I do it!
