Theres actually a theory about this. Apparently around 50% of the population does not have a consistent inner monologue, some having no internal monologue at all. So the theory is that when they think and their inner "voice" speaks on occasion they take it as a profound word from external forces bc they cannot conceive their conscious thought having a voice.
