That’s not what she said. Despite the fact that she considers it a controversial opinion of hers meaning, it’s something personal and not a general assertion. So you can’t use her opinion to say “you guys”. But there’s an angle she’s coming from which is that she won’t call a man a feminist but an ally, because somehow, just as she’s making it personal, a man would also make his opinions as a “Man” personal, while overriding the general principle of feminism. And also because no matter how men try to understand the patriarchy, they’ll always somehow support it because it benefits them more( which is not a bad thing, but the way an average human would think) so her assertion was personal and not general, making it open to criticism, just as you’ve done. And she’s okay with being the very thing you say she hates because she’s experiencing the prejudice first hand and that’s something as a man you’ll never be able to understand. But you can empathize with the movement. It’s like a rich man advocating for poverty eradication, he will never understand what it means to be poor, but he wan empathize with the poor masses because he’s human.

Look at it this way: if you have a gay friend and you’re not gay yourself, but you support them, defend them, and stand up for their rights, does that make you gay? No. It makes you an ally. That’s the same distinction i think she was trying to make with feminism. A man can strongly support feminism, advocate for women’s rights, challenge misogyny, and believe in gender equality without necessarily calling himself a feminist. He can identify as an ally to feminism. My point isn’t that he shouldn’t support feminism. It’s that supporting or advocating for a movement and personally identifying as part of that movement aren’t necessarily the same thing.

this is why comprehension is extremely important. She said “in her opinion” and also acknowledged afterwards that it is controversial. It’s almost like y’all are consciously trying to make this into something it isn’t.

Okay so, her referring to men as a "feminist ally" doesn't mean she's against men fighting for women's rights or anything like that. The term 'feminist ally' generally refers to a person that supports gender equality and women's rights while not personally experiencing that inequality and gender based oppression. I personally believe that adding 'ally' is not necessary, but it's really not a way to discourage people. it's just a terminology

She said you could be an ally, and I understand what she means by that. As a man, you may not necessarily be able to be an ally in the same way women are to one another not in a negative sense, but simply because this is an experience that belongs to us. Of course, you can support us, listen to us, stand beside us, and speak up when necessary. But sometimes, we also need you to let us have our own space to do our thing.I think that’s where the misunderstanding comes in. This is one of the few things we feel entitled to claim for ourselves, so when men become heavily involved in it, even with good intentions, it can sometimes feel as though something that was meant to belong to us is slowly being taken away from us. It’s not about excluding you or saying your support isn’t valuable. It’s about allowing women to have something that is ours, shaped by our experiences, without feeling the need to redefine or take over it.
