My great grandfather was a very old man who sold cola nuts in our neighborhood. He was not rich, but he had a very generous heart. Every day, the small profit he made from selling the cola nuts was given to my mother so she could cook food for the children in the neighborhood as sadaka (charity). Because of his kindness, men, women, and children all loved and respected him. As time passed, old age began to slow him down. He could no longer walk as fast or as strongly as he used to. Even so, one thing he never wanted to miss was his prayers at the mosque. The elders advised him to pray at home because of his age, but he refused. His love for prayer was stronger than his weakness. So he would hold my hand, and together we would try to walk to the mosque. Many times we never made it all the way. We would stop in the middle of the road because he was too tired to continue, and by then the prayer would have already started. Instead of giving up, he would simply sit wherever we had reached and pray there with complete devotion. One night, after a family gathering, everyone went to sleep. Very early at dawn, someone knocked on our door. My mother opened it and saw my elder sister standing there, crying. When my mother asked what had happened, she said the words none of us were ready to hear:

When my mother asked what had happened, she said the words none of us were ready to hear: "My great grandfather is gone." My mother was shocked. "But we were with him just yesterday," she said, as tears filled her eyes. That day, we did not just lose an old man. We lost a legend of kindness, faith, and generosity. But the love he gave and the good he did still live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Some people leave this world quietly, but the goodness they spread continues to speak for them forever. 🌿keep resting grandpa😭 #islamicreminder
