@tobi.orisa: I thought obsession was a cool movie, but I also believe that no one a part of this movie should be broke for at least the next year and I also think that Hollywood has a real greed problem in terms of making sure that casts and crews are taken care of . ##fyp##obsession##hollywood##greed##entertainmentindustry

mind you the actors signed a contract knowing how much they would make they didn’t sign a contract tied to the total earnings of the movie they knew how much they would make regardless of how much money the movie produced and if curry chooses to give them more money outside of the contract it would have made the contract pointless and also set a very poor precedent for curry and his whole team (also it wasn’t even curry who decided anything with the contracts he’s just the director and the face not the one actually controlling all that)

Because thats how contracts work. You dont get to beg for money after you see the movie do well when you agreed to the offer beforehand. I would argue THAT is greed

Guys. Curry is fine! I’m trying to harp on the fact that this movie made over $500 million and people are still complaining about not being paid fairly! There’s more than enough to go around!

They signed contracts. It’s legally binding. They accepted low pay because they didn’t know how well it was going to sell. They should have negotiated better before signing anything. This is common in indie film making.

Why are people blaming barker? Blame the people who loaned him the money , they probably saw all the success from the money and wanted more out of him and now there being greedy with it

There’s actually so many reasons why, mainly that the production company didn’t get any of the revenue money, they sold the movie rights. And the money they got from the sale pays for the other 50 indie horror that cost the same as obsession but nobody watch.

Why share the profits when they wouldn’t have shared any of the debt he’d been in if the movie flopped?

TeteluvsLA :
But if this movie flopped they wouldn't be suing. That's how independent film making works, you don't get points on the back end because it's a 50/50 shot. That's why everyone is paid upfront and the shoots are less than a month.

You are hired to do a job and agree on pay. If you want to redistribute profits, it needs to be every industry. Why pick on an up and coming film maker.

Lmao none of you understand how the film industry works. The only person who took a risk with this movie was the director and the studio.
