STELFONTA® is a non-surgical, intratumoral treatment option for certain non-metastatic mast cell tumors in dogs, and watching it work in real time raises a lot of "wait… how does THAT work?" moments. The treatment itself involves an injection directly into the tumor, and unlike surgery, general anesthesia isn't required, but most patients are sedated for the procedure. But here's where it gets really interesting. 👀 STELFONTA® works locally in three ways: it disrupts the tumor cell membranes, disrupts the tumor's blood supply, and stimulates an immune response against the tumor. This causes rapid tumor destruction and necrosis, allowing the tumor to detach and fall off.
