I’m a brown person. Worked in a mid managerial role for a company 4 years and was always celebrated for the work I do. They just kept giving me extra work from other colleagues. Never promoted me. Rubbish pay rises while the white ‘stressed’ colleagues whose work I kept covering were given payrises, bonus, promotions. When I left, I found out they promoted the new blonde white girl who used to work at a beauty counter with basic finance experience! It’s so sad and I just don’t get if it’s deliberate or they are not aware

I worked in events. One of the events was in Monaco, when one partner at the company found out I was staying at a super luxurious hotel he told me “make sure you don’t rip up the carpets and p1ss on the floor, no drying your clothes on the balcony. I know what your lot are like! “ This was just one of many things said to me, it was the late 90s and I was fresh out of university.

I spent 13 years working in the same room as a director in a mostly white company. I’d hear full conversations about “how to get rid of people,” but to me she only ever said “good morning” and “bye.” If I walked in first and greeted her, she wouldn’t even lift her head. Looking back, I don’t know why I stayed so long in a place that made me feel invisible.😳😳😳😳

I was shimmied out after my colleague (who also was of colour) was unfairly dismissed but was too young to stand up for herself… I was paid out and had to sign an NDA for 6 years… it’s screaming guilty!

I had a follow up appointment for a breast lump, they were doing a procedure. Anyway, I haven't been off sick in over a year, took the shift as a paid medical appointment (which I am entitled to) as I was advised not to go to work after. My manager decided he wasn't working his shift that evening as he had a social engagement and was trying to get me to work - At first it honestly made me feel bad for taking the day. But then I just got so bloody mad, we are just numbers, they don't really give a shit.

I was being prepared by the head of our faculty to be the head of English Department I am a white Christian but my husband is a muslim and by their beliefs our son was to be circumcised I asked to take a few days off and off handedly said the reason That was the end of it all I was hated and never got that promotion that they had actually were priming me for They gave a such a hard time and i couldnt handle the discrimination , received therapy and lost my self worth for some time
