@officialskmusyoka: This evening, I have spoken with Standard Newspapers Associate Editor Alex Kiprotich, who was abducted and assaulted by armed men along the Gilgil to Nakuru Road. I strongly condemn this horrific attack and the growing threats against members of the press. An attack on a journalist is an attack on press freedom and our Constitution. Those who incite violence and hatred against journalists must be held accountable. Kenya must never return to the days when violence, intimidation and abductions became tools of political control. I have also spoken with Standard Group CEO Chaacha Mwita and conveyed my solidarity with Alex, his family and the entire media fraternity. We demand justice. We demand accountability. We demand the immediate arrest of those responsible.
